Huginn is a self-hosted, open-source system for building agents that monitor the web and act on your behalf — a self-hosted alternative to services like IFTTT or Zapier, but with the agents' logic and data running entirely on infrastructure you control. Each agent performs one job — watching a webpage for changes, tracking a Twitter account, monitoring the weather — and agents can be chained together, so one agent's output becomes another's trigger, letting fairly complex automations be assembled from simple building blocks. Because everything runs self-hosted, there's no dependency on a third-party automation SaaS's uptime, pricing changes, or data-handling policies — the tradeoff is that operating and maintaining the server is the user's own responsibility rather than a vendor's.
